The Dholakia Foundation, the charitable arm of Hari Krishna Group, a leading global diamond manufacturer, spearheaded the development of CIBJO Lake. This ambitious undertaking is an integral part of their broader Gagadiya river rejuvenation initiative. The lake spans an impressive 15 acres and boasts a storage capacity of 156 million liters, providing vital water resources to five local villages. This project is expected to benefit approximately 12,000 farmers by facilitating multiple crop cycles annually and significantly raising groundwater levels, thereby bolstering water security in the region.
The inauguration ceremony saw CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri join Dr. Savjibhai Dholakia, founder of Hari Krishna Exports, whose life's work has been dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities in India. Distinguished attendees included Shri Kaushikbhai Kantibhai Vekariya, Minister of State for the Government of Gujarat; Shri Bharatbhai Sutariya, Member of the Indian Parliament; and several members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, along with diplomatic representatives and industry leaders.
